I got an acute sense of time passing inside Rome’s Pantheon. Not only because it was built almost two millennia ago, but because its ancient architecture acts as a colossal sun dial.

The perfectly round hole in the top of the dome – deemed almost architecturally impossible even today – pours sunlight onto window after window around the circular church. Hours, and even minutes, can be watched passing across the Pantheon’s beautiful walls.
Beautiful photo – love the framing and tones!!

Lovely photo Rachel, love the way the rays catch the subtle and old patterns on those walls. The Pantheon is indeed a marvel xx
